Compaq Setup Manager

Compaq Setup Manager is a Hewlett-Packard Company utility designed to help IT administrators standardize and streamline the configuration and deployment of Compaq and HP business PCs. It provides a guided way to define system settings, incorporate device drivers and software, and generate configuration files used during unattended or scripted installations. By automating common setup tasks, it reduces manual effort, improves consistency across fleets, and shortens desk-side provisioning time.

Typical capabilities include:

• Creating and managing unattended setup answer files for Windows deployments
• Preconfiguring system settings to deliver a consistent end-user environment
• Bundling drivers and software components to ensure hardware readiness on first boot
• Supporting large-scale rollouts, imaging, and refresh projects in enterprise environments
• Integrating with HP client management tools and driver packages to simplify maintenance

Compaq Setup Manager is primarily intended for corporate and institutional IT teams managing standardized PC images. As a legacy tool, its availability and compatibility vary by model and operating system; newer environments may require more recent HP client management solutions.
